My business prediction for 2010

Now that we're well in to 2010, I am in a position to make a genuine and I hope pretty accurate business projection for the year as a whole, solely based on my own company's experience.

The year got off to an incredibly slow start compared with previous years, mainly I think to the prolonged severe weather conditions across the UK, i.e. snow, and lots of it!

At that time, it was raising real concern and I just hoped that it was the weather conditions that caused sales and turnover to literally halve for the whole of January, in comparison to 2009.

Around the middle of February, things really started to turn around and the level of business literally 'rocketed' overnight and has been consistently high since.

We are now in a position where sales figures are slightly ahead of those of 2009 at this point in the year and showing no signs of slowing down.

With this in mind, I am total confident that 2010 will be yet another great year for our conservatory sales, if not for the industry as a whole and I predict that if sales continue as they are, we will be approximately 10% up on last year.

My only concern is the 2010 World Cup, which inevitably causes disruption to our business, but this is nothing new.

Conservatives for Conservatories

We all know that the Liberal Democrats will not take power this General Election so voting for them is effectively a 'wasted vote'. I will be voting Conservative in May as I hope the majority will also.

Labour is anti-business and I hate them with a passion. The worst of the worst, implementing a 50% income tax and tax relief restrictions on private pensions, they want blood from the 'better off'.

So, if you don't want another Labour government who try to restrict how far you can progress in life, vote Conservative because a vote for the Liberal Democrats will only help Labour.

Senior Architectural Acquires AWJ Glass

Senior Architectural Systems have recently acquired the assets of AWJ Glass Limited in Scarborough. The acquisition is in line with the company’s strategic plan to be able to offer a wide range of products and services in the commercial windows, doors and curtain wall market.

This acquisition provides Seniors with 40,000 sq.ft. Of premises along with some of the most up to date equipment for manufacturing high performance double glazed units together with an experienced workforce.

After lengthy negotiations over the last few weeks, Seniors acquired the company’s assets on Monday, 26th October. Lennart Jonsson, Managing Director of Senior Architectural Systems, commented, “We are delighted to have acquired the assets of AWJ Glass together with a very experienced workforce. I can confirm that the business will remain in Scarborough and we are looking forward to developing the business further. Seniors are now the only systems company in the UK who can offer both fenestration systems and high performance glazing - this combination will allow us to develop some very exciting products in the future whilst offering our existing customers an even broader range of products.”

Seniors are currently undertaking a restructure of AWJ Glass and the newly formed business will be fully operational to meet existing customers needs on Monday, 2nd November.

AWJ Glass in talks to save their company

Further to my last post, I now understand that AWJ Glass Ltd are in talks to try and secure a takeover deal to enable them to continue trading.
I really wish them well and hope that they manage to pull this off as they are an excellent company.

AWJ Glass in Administration

Yesterday I found out from a reliable source that AWJ Glass Ltd will be going in to administration this Friday (23rd October 2009).

AWJ Glass is a large sealed unit manufacturing company based in Scarborough and according to their website:

Manufacturing from a 40,000sq/ft factory AWJ Glass Ltd has a growing reputation for delivering high quality Double Glazed Units and Toughened Safety Glass products.

This is yet another unfortunate consequence of the current financial state of the country.
